Rs 5 lakh collected as fine from motorists during weekend

As part of the City police’s weekend drive against motorists breaching traffic rules, Rs 5,15,700 has been collected as fine from 2,726 motorists.

Vehicles were intercepted at various points in the city including at Kamarajar Salai, Radhakrishnan Salai, ECR, OMR, Besant Nagar, Sastri Nagar, Rajaji Salai, Royapuram old railway station, Poonamallee 400 feet road, Maduravoyal, Lighthouse, Ega theatre junction, Greenways Road and Thuraipakkam.

The drive will continue in the coming weekends as well and the city police have urged the motorists to follow the traffic rules to avoid penalty.
