Pistol used in Sattur murder seized

A country-made pistol that was used to murder a man in a moving bus near Sattur was seized at O.Mettupatti near Sattur. Two women who were linked to the murder incident were also secured by Virudhunagar Police.

Karuppassamy, an auto driver from Kovilpatti was shot dead in a moving bus near Sattur on October 12. Mohammed Rafeeq surrendered the next day at Madurai court. Rafeeq’s son Abdullah,a college student, was murdered by the brothers of Karuppasamy at Kovilpatti on July 2 and hence Rafeeq took revenge for his son’s murder.

On Monday, Virudhunagar police too him under police custody. During interrogation, he revealed that he had handed over the pistol to one Mahalakshmi of Sattur. He also said that one Latha and her husband Packiaraj had helped him in the murder. When Mahalakshmi was inquired she disclosed that she had buried the pistol beneath a bridge near a water body in O.Mettupatti near Sattur. The pistol was recovered and the duo Latha and Packiaraj was secured.
