PC supporters hit back, dare Gopanna

Unfazed by his word of caution, several state Congress leaders belonging to the P Chidambaram camp on Friday dared their state media cell chairman A Gopanna, a well-known supporter of EVKS Elangovan, to initiate action against them

Alleging that Gopanna’s unilateral actions were bringing disrepute to the party and their leadership, a petition signed by former party Lok Sabha MP K.S. Alagiri and a few other Chidambaram supporters questioned the former’s authority to invite applications for MLA ticket and said that Gopanna had issued statements against Karate Thiyagarajan without evidence.

Claiming that Thiyagarajan had not made any statement or given interview to the media threatening to boycott the nomination process, the petition accused Gopanna of spreading falsehood with vested interest and said they would not be cowed down by such threats.
