“Nobody was booked today as we decided to start with a warning on the first day,” said a senior city police officer adding that strict imposing of the order will be in force in a day or two.

The motorists and pedestrians found without face masks were warned of strict action from next time onwards. “There will be fine and if they are travelling on vehicles, their vehicles will be seized,” an official noted when asked how are the police going to tackle people without masks in public places.

“People can wear any masks. It can be a home-made mask or even handkerchief mask,” the commissioner had noted adding those found without masks will lose movement passes irrespective of their reasons to

commute and that vehicle will also be impounded.
