No curbs on rural campaigns: Election Commission

Pattali Makkal Katchi (PMK) spokesperson Balu on Wednesday said that the Chief Election Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni has assured him of provisions to carry out election campaigns in rural areas without any restrictions.

The CEC has assured him that relevant orders/circulars would be sent to respective officers mentioning not to indulge with restrictions, he said. Balu also maintained that restrictions in urban areas are acceptable owing various reasons, but it is not proper to execute the same in rural areas.
