The deceased has been identified as Meena, a resident of VGP Pushpa Nagar in Medavakkam.

Police said Meena was married to Ramalingam, a software engineer, last month. On Tuesday night, Ramalingam who reached home, found that the door was locked and received no response from Meena.

On suspicion, when he broke open the door, he found Meena hanging from the ceiling from her saree.

On information, the Pallikaranai police team visited the spot, retrieved the body and sent it for postmortem examination at Chromepet Government Hospital.

Police have registered a case and investigating the reason behind the suicide. RDO has also ordered for an enquiry.
