Missing boys trigger ‘child lifting’ panic

Two boys, who were playing near their house in Old Washermenpet, went missing on Saturday triggering child kidnap rumours in the locality.

They were immediately located roaming inside the Perambur railway station and restored back to their families. The boys were identified as K Sasikumar (9), a Class five student and T Kadwin, a Class two student, both from Modern Lane in Old Washermenpet. 

They were playing on the street in front of their house and suddenly disappeared, fuelling rumours of child lifting. The families immediately lodged a police complaint. Meanwhile, Railway Police Force team found the two boys roaming on the third platform of Perambur station. 

When the two were questioned, they said they were from Washermenpet. They were later taken to a shelter and their parents were informed. 

Police said that the boys had travelled in a train to Perambur and were stranded there as they didn’t know how to return home, police said. The two kids were later handed over to the family.
