Minor rape: Accused sent to police custody

A Mahila Court granted five days of police custody for all 17 persons accused in the sexual abuse of a 11-year-old hearing and speech impaired girl. The victim had identified all of them during the identification parade held a day ago, said the police.

Based on a plea moved by the police seeking seven days custody of the accused to interrogate them further, the Mahila court granted five days. 

Police also noted that the 11-year-old victim identified all the accused during the identification parade held in Puzhal prison. 

The accused were made to stand in a row along with 10 other people. However, interrogation is yet to be over and more persons need to be apprehended with details from the other accused, police added.
