Based on a tip-off that she was being married to her 27-year-old maternal uncle at a temple, the officials reached the spot and rescued the girl.

A team from the Child Welfare Committee and the District Social Welfare conducted inquiries and found that the girl’s parents had already conducted her engagement. After the parents agreed to allow the girl to continue her education, they were allowed to take her home. The police noted that they would follow up with the family regularly to ensure that the girl is safe and going to school.
