The MoU was signed with Sergey Sannikov from SPUTNIK, responsible for launching the 1st Space Shuttle in 1957, in the presence of Padma Bhushan Dr. A. Sivathanu Pillai, Father of Brahmos Missiles.  SPUTNIK is very keen to manufacture mechanical artificial hearts in Mediville since the latter has the requisite infrastructure and the former has technology. The memorandum is for a  joint venture, and will make India the first Asian country  to produce its own artificial heart.
