Man on lookout by Hyd police detained at Chennai airport

CHENNAI: A 46-year-old man who was on the lookout by the Hyderabad police was detained at the Chennai airport on Friday night.

Immigration officials were checking passengers who arrived from Singapore on a Singapore airlines flight on Friday.

When they scanned the documents of Giridhar Reddy of Andhra Pradesh, they found that he was wanted by the Hyderabad police for the past two years, airport sources said.

Two years ago, Giridhar had cheated on his business partner and escaped abroad. Later, the Hyderabad police registered a case under Sections 420 and 406 IPC and issued look out circular to all the airports across the country in 2021.

On Friday, immigration officials detained him and informed the Hyderabad police. Giridhar was handed over to the airport police and a special team from Hyderabad is expexted to arrive in Chennai soon to arrest him.
