The police are trying to identify the suspects using CCTV cameras.

The deceased was identified as Mahesh of Veppampattu. On Friday, he had come to meet his friend who was arrested in a murder case and was brought to the court for trial. Then, he went to the restaurant to have lunch around 2.30 pm when the incident took place.

Four men carrying sickles reached the restaurant and started attacking Mahesh. As the gang hacked him to death, customers, including women and children, ran away from the spot in fear. The gang left the spot after making sure Mahesh is dead.

The footage showed women running away with their children and watching the murder from a distance. It also showed a woman, who was having food, unable to move in a state of shock.
