Man arrested for robbing 70 year old woman

S Shakuntala, a resident of Devi Karumariamman Nagar in Nerkundram was walking along Tarachand Nagar main road in Virugambakkam where a man on a two wheeler robbed her three sovereign gold chain.

CHENNAI: City police on Thursday arrested a man for snatching a gold chain from a 70 year old woman in Virugambakkam.

S Shakuntala, a resident of Devi Karumariamman Nagar in Nerkundram was walking along Tarachand Nagar main road in Virugambakkam where a man on a two wheeler robbed her three sovereign gold chain.

The incident happened on September 21, around 6.30 pm. Based on Shakuntala’s complaint, police arrested the suspect after perusing CCTV footage in the neighbourhood.

The arrested person was identified as R Ramesh of Chengalpattu

Virugambakkam Police has recovered three sovereign gold chain and a two wheeler from the suspect.

The arrested person was produced before a magistrate and remanded to judicial custody.
