Mamata Banerjee to unveil statue of Karunanidhi in Chennai

Activities are being carried out on a large scale for the grand opening ceremony of the statue.

West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee will unveil the statue of Karunanidhi in Chennai on August 7th. 

Late DMK President Karunanidhi's first death anniversary will be celebrated on August 7th. A statue of Karunanidhi is to be placed at the Murasoli office in Kodambakkam, Chennai. The statue is being sculpted in Meenjur.

Activities are being carried out on a large scale for the grand opening ceremony of the statue. Many prominent leaders including Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will attend the ceremony.

President of Dravidar Kazhagam K Veeramani was invited by Stalin in person to preside over the event. Invitations are being sent to alliance party leaders to attend the event. 

It is to be noted that UPA leader Sonia Gandhi opened the statue of Karunanidhi at Anna Arivalayam last year. All India Congress President Rahul Gandhi was also present at the event.
