Lost handbag traced within hours

A Bharatanatyam teacher who lost her handbag containing a mobile phone and Rs 30,000 in cash near Kodambakkam on Saturday night got it back within hours with the help of police personnel.

S Gayathri (47) of Alwarpet lodged a complaint at Kodambakkam that her handbag fell off her two-wheeler when she was returning home after dropping one of her students at Ashok Nagar.  When Kodambakkam police called Gayathri’s phone, a woman attended the call and informed the police that the bag was with her. Police went to her house and found out that she was a 65-year-old, identified as M Pushpa of Kodambakkam.

She was brought to the police station and the handbag was handed over to Gayathri after interrogation. The police also lauded senior citizen Pushpa’s honesty.
