Lorry driver held after biker’s death

A 23-year-old man was killed in an accident after his bike was rammed by a lorry near Sriperumbudur on Thursday.

The deceased was identified as Parthiban of Mathur village near Sriperumbudur, working with a private firm at Oragadam.

On Thursday night, Parthiban was returning home on his two-wheeler from Oragadam, when nearing the Mathur service road, a tipper lorry which came from behind rammed into Parthiban’s bike. In the impact, he fell on the road and was run over by the same vehicle.

On information, Oragadam police arrived at the spot and retrieved the body and sent it for post-mortem to the Sriperumbudur Government Hospital.

The police have arrested the lorry driver and further inquiry is on.
