Talking to reporters here today, LJP Tamil Nadu Unit President Vidhyadharan said the party has considerable following amongst Dalits in the state. He also announced the constituencies from which the LJP would be contesting.

The LJP was part of the 'Vidiyal Alliance' mooted by Nadalum Makkal Katchi and actor Karthik, in which Makkal Maanadu Katchi (MMK) was also a partner.

Since Karthik has been taking unilateral decisions and the alliance has virtually become dysfunctional, both the LJP and the MMK have decided to walk out of the alliance contest the elections on their own.

MMK President K Sakthivel, who was also present, said his party would be contesting alone in nine seats in the elections.
