Students abstained from their classes on Monday and held a demonstration near Kamaraj statue junction to press for immediate action against those responsible for the alleged suicide of three girl students of  SVS college, Villuppuram on Saturday. Police arrested 25 students as they attempted to put up a road blockade. Meanwhile, the Puducherry Pradesh Youth Congress volunteers also protested at the same venue to condemn the Centre on the suicide of Hyderabad University student Rohith Vemula.
