CHENNAI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal also welcomed the “Puthumai Penn” scheme for another reason that girl students studying only in government schools will be benefitted by it.

“Out of 27 crore school students, 18 crore are in government schools which makes it 66 per cent. Barring very few states, the government schools in most of the states are pathetic. Unless and until we provide good quality education on par with private schools, we will not get good government schools. In the last 75 years, no proper emphasis was given on education. If all the state governments come together just like what Chief Minister Stalin has done now and if the Central government also comes together I am sure that within five years best education can be provided in government schools,” he said.

After the function, Kejriwal along with Chief Minister Stalin and Chief Secretary V Irai Anbu, visited the Anna Centenary Library and saw the facilities available in the library. Irai Anbu explained to Kejriwal the facilities available in the library followed by which Kejriwal interacted with the students who had benefited from the model schools.

During his visit to the library, Kejriwal, in the visitor’s note, wrote “its a pleasure to visit the library. Such huge collection of books and manuscripts. So well managed and kept. Its not just TN’s pride but India’s pride. Keep it up!”
