Jayalalithaa presented the cheque to head constable Munusamy’s wife Munilakshmi.  She also gave the Government Order (GO) to his daughter Rakshana stating that the State government would take care of her entire educational expense. Rakshana has got a MBBS seat in the Madurai Medical College. Although the Chief Minister had already announced an assistance of Rs 5 lakh to his family members, Jayalalithaa said she was of the firm opinion that this solatium was not enough for the family. “Hence, considering the supreme sacrifice made by Munusamy, I have ordered to give Rs 1 crore as solatium to his family,’’ she said. She also said she has directed the Chief Secretary to issue a new GO, providing enhanced financial aid to police personnel who sacrifice their lives and sustain injuries during acts of valour in the line of duty.
