Jaya condoles death of party MLA, TN Assembly also pays homage

AIADMK Supremo and Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa today condoled the death of party MLA S M Seenivel, who died at Madurai after a brief illness.

Mr Seenivel was elected from Tiruparunkundram constituency in Madurai in the May 16 Assembly elections.

In a statement here, Ms Jayalalithaa expressed deep anguish sorrow and anguish over his death and said he was a member of the party right from the 

founding days.

Recalling his service to the party, Ms Jayalalithaa also pointed out that Seenivel had effectively served the people as an MLA from Tiruparandukundram from 2001 and 2006.

Expressing her heartfet condolences to the bereaved family, Ms Jayalalithaa also said she would pray to the almighty for his soul to rest in peace.

Meanwhile, the Tamil Nadu Assembly today paid homage to the death of Seenivel.

Soon after the first session of the 15th Assembly met for the day to enable the newly elected MLAs to take oath as members of the House, protem Speaker S Semmalai read out an obituary reference and expressed his heartfelt condolences to the bereaved family.

Later, all the members of the House observed two minutes silence as a mark of respect to the departed soul.
