Singh, quoting the SC order dated December 2, asked Ponn Manickavel to hand over the entire record of the investigation and other records in his possession to the head of the department as the latter’s term was over. “You are hereby informed that if you do not comply with the SC order you will be in contempt of the same,” the ADGP reminded Ponn Manickvel.

The former special officer, in his reply, said: “Please be informed that I know my responsibility and duty to obey the SC order in true spirit. The Updates CD files in my possession in respect of cases investigated by me will be despatched as soon as the compilation is completed”.

The State government had ordered Ponn Manickavel to hand over all details to Additional Director General of Police Abhay Kumar Singh, as his tenure ended on November 30. Ponn Manickavel had refused to hand over the documents to the government, stating that he was appointed by the court. However, on Monday, the Supreme Court upheld the government order and asked him to hand over all case files to the ADGP, Idol Wing.
