House burgled during birthday party

Some unidentified persons sneaked in to the first floor of a house at Velachery, when the family members were engaged in a birthday party on the ground floor of the house and decamped with 10 sovereign gold jewellery and Rs. 10,000 in cash on Monday night

Police said the house of Kumaran, a resident of V K Kattabomman Street, Velachery was burgled around 9.30 pm on Monday. Kumaran and his family members were busy attending guests for birthday party on the ground floor of the house when the burglary took place. 

Police said burglars broke open the terrace door to gain access to the top floor and then broke the bureau locks to steal the valuables. The theft came to light when the family came to the first floor. Velachery police have registered a case and are investigating.
