After a petition was filed in the Madras High Court to stop the hospital authorities from cutting at least 75 fully grown trees on a stretch of four acres at the campus, the division bench had asked the government to find out alternative places at the institute for the additional buildings so that the trees need not be cut.

To mark the celebration of bi centenary, the hospital is also planting 500 saplings within its premises.
