Heritage building collapses due to heavy rains

A 167-year old heritage building located behind Madarasa-Ai-Azam School on the Anna Road collapsed due to heavy downpour on Monday.

The building was under the maintenance of the Archaelogical department. It was not in use for last 20 years. A portion of the building collapsed due to heavy rain and fire and rescue operators’ team under Triplicane head Rajasekaran went to remove debris. No causalities have been reported. Other parts of the building also face dangers of collapse.  This building was used for shooting of a few Tamil films like Dhool and Run said the police and rescue officials.
