Gold burgled from ex-IAS official’s house

A retired woman IAS official became the latest victim of burglars in the city, who escaped with 20 sovereigns and Rs 5,000 in cash from her house in Padi.

The victim, Leena Nair, is an administrative member of a central tribunal, said police. The incident happened when she was asleep on the first floor of her house in Padi on Saturday night. According to police, the burglars entered the house through the back door. They decamped with 20 sovereigns of gold jewels and Rs 5,000 in cash, police added.


The incident came to light on Sunday morning when a worker at the house spotted the cupboard open. Following the complaint filed by the official, a case has been registered at Korattur police station and further investigation is on.
