Gangster Kakkathope Balaji detained under Goondas Act

The city police have detained gangster ‘Kakkathope’ Balaji under the Goondas Act. Balaji (41), who was recently arrested in a snatching case has more than 50 cases including eight murders and four kidnaps pending against him.

One of the notorious gangsters from North Chennai, Balaji was last in the news when his rivals in the underworld hurled bombs at a car in which he was travelling along with another gangster ‘CD’ Mani near Teynampet police station in March 2020.

The two narrowly escaped the attack and Balaji was later arrested in connection with a different case. ‘Kalvettu’ Ravi, another infamous gangster and Balaji’s friend-turned-foe too was recently arrested in Andhra Pradesh and remanded in judicial custody.
