Former Director News, AIR, Chennai V Sankaran passes away

He served in Puducherry All India Radio for more than 10 years as correspondent. Even after his retirement, he was continuously assisting the News Section as a casual News Editor till the COVID epidemic broke out.

CHENNAI: V Sankaran, former Director News, AIR, Chennai, died here late last night after a brief illness. He was 74. He is survived by his wife and two daughters. He has worked in RNI, PIB, AIR and DPR (Defence). He also served as correspondent during the Sri Lankan issue, a PIB release said today. He served in Puducherry All India Radio for more than 10 years as correspondent. Even after his retirement, he was continuously assisting the News Section as a casual News Editor till the COVID epidemic broke out. He was suffering from prostate cancer and renal issues and was under dialysis. His mortal remains are being taken to his hometown Ayyanarkulam village in Tirunelveli district for last rites.
