Fire at Rajiv Gandhi govt hospital; no casualties

According to a Thanthi report, fire broke out in a separate ward set for Covid patients in ward at 3.30 am on Saturday. Around 5 people, who were treated for corona in the ward, were immediately shifted.

CHENNAI: A fire broke out at a ward in Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital (RGGGH) on Saturday.

According to a Thanthi report, fire broke out in a separate ward set for Covid patients in ward at 3.30 am on Saturday. Around 4 people, who were treated for corona in the ward, were immediately shifted.

Later, fire and rescue personnel reached the spot and doused the fire. No casualties were reported during the incident.

Preliminary investigation revealed that the fire was triggered by a possible short circuit. The police have registered a case and are investigating the accident.
