The accused has been identified as Sathishkumar (45) of Sokkikulam in Madurai district. He had allegedly borrowed the sum from a financier, Ramkumar of Sadaipet, to produce a film titled Eli starring Vadivelu. Sathishkumar also promised that he would give the foreign rights of the film to the financier. However, three years after Eli was released, he had neither returned the amount nor given the foreign rights of the movie.

Following this, Ramkumar had filed a petition at Police Commissionerate in February seeking action against Sathishkumar and a case was registered by the CCB. Sathishkumar, who was nabbed at his hometown on Friday, was lodged in Puzhal prison on Saturday.
