Fake journo and friend held for extorting Tasmac supervisor

A fake journalist and his friend who extorted a Tasmac supervisor after threatening him about his illicit affair have been arrested in Kodungaiyur.

The 45-year-old Tasmac supervisor is said to be in a relationship with a woman in the locality and allegedly brought her home on Wednesday since his wife and children are in his native town. A few minutes later, two men who knocked on the door questioned him about the woman with him and demanded Rs 20,000 for not exposing him. Out of fear, the supervisor gave the money after which he alerted Kodungaiyur police.

A team rushed to the spot and conducted inquiries before securing the accused identified as R Arunkumar (32) of Kodungaiyur and A Shyam (32) of Kodungaiyur. Police said a fake journalist ID card was seized from Arunkumar while the accused Shyam is employed in welding machine unit in Irunkattukottai. They were remanded in judicial custody.
