Ensure safe return of driver attacked in Karnataka: Wife

According to the petition submitted by Kanagavalli (25), her husband Manivel (33), employed as a lorry driver in Namakkal, was transporting gas cylinders from Mangalore to Bengaluru on September 12, unaware of the violence that had broken out in Karnataka. A 10-member gang stopped his vehicle and forced Manivel out of the lorry. The gang stripped him of his clothes and brutally attacked him. Despite the fact that he spoke Kannada, the youth continued to thrash him, the petitioner said.

Kanagavalli claimed that her husband was traumatised to travel back to Tamil Nadu. RDO Janaki assured Kanagavalli that all necessary steps would be taken to help Manivel after consulting the district collector.
