Prof. K Jothi Sivagnanam, of the three-member convenors committee, which administers the university as the post of vice-chancellor remains vacant, in his introductory remarks as the chairman of the council announced that these new courses would be offered in various departments in the university from the next academic year.

During the meeting, Prof. J Gandhiraj, faculty member from one of the city colleges moved a resolution demanding revival of double valuation system for post graduate students.

A few council members felt that this system, which was followed a long time ago benefitted students as two faculty members would evaluate the answer sheet, thereby maintaining higher standards for evaluation.
