Drunk BJP man arrested for attacking policeman on duty

Valasaravakam police arrested a 34-year old man, who allegedly picked up a quarrel with a woman police and attacked another policeman on Friday night

The accused Suresh Kanna is BJP’s youth wing executive member. Police sources said that he was in an inebriated state when the incident took place. Police personnel Srilakshmi and Sathish were engaged in a regular vehicle check at Kumaran Avenue when Suresh Kanna, a resident of the locality, allegedly asked them to vacate the place and threatened them of dire consequences if they did not pay heed. 

Meanwhile, another cop Jothimani, who reached the spot, asked Suresh Kanna get into the police vehicle. When he refused, the police officers tried to push him into the vehicle. However, Suresh Kanna pushed Jothimani down and injured him. Later, Suresh Kanna was arrested and booked on charges of attempt to murder and preventing government officials from discharging their duty and using abusive language.
