DMK President M Karunanidhi on Saturday, said he and his party MLAs would contribute one month’s salary to the relief fund for tens of thousands of families who were gravely affected in the heavy north east monsoon showers recently. Karunanidhi and DMK Treasurer MK Stalin as well as party cadre have been distributing relief materials to the affected families in Chennai as well as a few other districts. Meanwhile, Karunanidhi appealed to the Prime Minister for postponing the main paper of Civil Services Examination by at least few weeks in the view of recent rains in the state. In a letter to Narendra Modi, he also said that if the exam is on schedule, it would be unfair for the students of TN, Puducherry and Andhra Pradesh.
