Director Gautham Menon escapes car crash

Gautham was taken to a private hospital immediately after the accident. Except damage to the vehicle, there was no major injury to both the drivers. Both of them were not drunk, police added.

Film director Gautham Vasudev Menon escaped with minor injuries when his Mercedes Benz car hit a lorry in the wee hours of Thursday, near Semmencherry at Old Mahabalipuram Road aka Rajiv Gandhi Salai.

According to the police, there was a delayed response from Gautham Menon in applying brake. Police said he was driving towards Chennai from Mahabalipuram when the accident happened around 3.35 am.

Gautham was taken to a private hospital immediately after the accident. Except damage to the vehicle, there was no major injury to both the drivers. Both of them were not drunk, police added.

When the film director’s car was nearing Semmencherry signal on OMR a tipper lorry was taking U-turn opposite side. “Though Gautham Menon applied brake, it was a delayed reaction and that led to the accident. The front portion of his car was completely damaged. He escaped with minor injuries because of airbag opened,” police said. Both drivers have given complaints to the traffic police.
