Dinakaran supporters indulging in rampant bribing of voters: Ma Foi K Pandiarajan

On a day when top poll officials, including Deputy Election Commissioner Umesh Sinha inspected the byelection-bound RK Nagar constituency, a OPS faction leader said he would lodge a complaint with the poll panel against the AIADMK (Amma) for bribing voters.

Speaking to reporters, former education minister K Pandiarajan said, “Though it has become a convention to bribe voters during election time evading the attention of officials, supporters of the rival group (AIADMK, Amma) are distributing cash (by issuing tokens) all around the segment 12 days ahead of the by-poll. The voters are being told to encash or redeem the tokens at specific shops in the area.”

It may be recalled that both the groups of AIADMK have complained to the EC earlier about money being offered to voters.  Meanwhile, another leader of the OPS group took offence to DMK working president MK Stalin’s comment on all and sundry occupying the chief minister’s chair in the state.

MLA S Semmalai said, “Stalin has spoken thus out of frustration, as he fears that his party may lose in RK Nagar by-election. Stalin should remember that his father had also occupied the chief minister’s chair earlier.” He added, “Only O Panneerselvam has the blessing to sit in the chief minister’s seat. Stalin still lacks that luck.”
