Day after ICF fire, RPF SI hangs self near ICF premises

A 57-year-old sub-inspector attached to RPF committed suicide by hanging from a tree near the ICF premise on early Sunday morning.

The deceased was identified as Khaja Mohideen. He was on duty when the fire mishap happened in ICF on early Saturday morning. Police said he was depressed because his grandchild was suffering from health issues and it could have led him to take the extreme step. Since Saturday morning after the fire mishap happened he had been also continuously answering queries from his senior officials, police noted. On Sunday morning, he stepped out saying that he was going for tea and never returned. Later a lorry driver saw his body hanging from a tree and informed the authorities. Khaja Mohideen’s body was later shifted to Kilpauk medical college for autopsy.
