Dastkari Mela brings in the best of crafts

Dastkari Crafts Mela brings together rural artisans from the eastern part of India featuring vast collections of cotton and silk handlooms, handicrafts, dress material and sarees from Odisha, Rajasthan and West Bengal.

One can choose from a wide selection of jewellery, textile, handmade paper, precious and semi-precious stones, paintings, leather goods, marble showpieces, silver, gold and much more. The exhibition is all about the use of traditional skills to create contemporary lifestyle products. Among other attractions, Biswajit Saha from Dhaka will be showcasing fabled Dhakai muslin jam daani sarees. Also part of Saha’s collection, are the less expensive tangails.

The Dastkari Crafts Mela is being held at Valluvar Kottam, Nungambakkam High Road from 10 am to 8.30 pm on Sunday.
