Corruption killing TANGEDCO, says Anbumani

Attributing TANGEDCO’s poor show in Central government’s ranking to various scams, PMK leader Anbumani Ramadoss on Monday accused the Tamil Nadu government of not increasing the power generation capacity in the state.

Pointing out that even Kerala, which doesn’t have a thermal power plant, has secured 18th place in the rankings compared to Tamil Nadu which is in 34th place, Anbumani said it was because the state was buying power from other states.

He said out of total power demand of 15,500 mw, less than one third of electricity (4,750) is being generated by the state, while 5,426 mw is being procured from private entities. State government should reverse the situation for the benefit of general public, he said.
