This came even as the Tamil Nadu police had a sigh of relief after the arrest of self-styled TN leader of the Islamic State, Khaja Moideen, and his associates from different parts of the country.

Sources said that the person the police were looking for was linked to Bengaluru IS module, adding that CCTV footages from Vepery and Periamet are being thoroughly checked.

The sleuths are trying to dig out more information from a large tranche of footage containing visuals from January 6 to 10 to find if the man was meeting any particular group in the locality.

The man was in Chennai when Delhi police arrested Khaja Moideen and two others in the national capital, said sources, adding that the man they are looking for seems to have disappeared from Chennai in two days.

Sources admitted that the hunt for the persons suspected to linked to the IS network is not going to end soon. “It will continue, as the network is believed to be a big one,” an official noted.

TN IS module’s alleged plan to trigger terror attacks across the country came to light after Khaja Moindeen disappeared along with Abdul Shameem and Zaid Ali Nawaz – accused in the murder of Hindu Munnani leader Suresh Kumar at Ambattur in 2014 – and another man identified as Abdul Samad. The police came to know about the disappearance after they stopped attending case hearing in the courts.
