Sumathi, mother of the victim, told DT Next that a bunch of men trespassed into her house on Friday night and started thrashing her son before dragging him to a police vehicle. The boy was later found on the middle of a road with broken limbs and bruises.

The parents have lodged a complaint with the Commissioner of Police, seeking action against those who assaulted, presumably on mistaken identity.

The boy later told his parents that he was blind-folded and taken to an unknown location where he was severely beaten up.

When the parents decided to approach the Commissioner, a caller reportedly told them the boy was picked up on mistaken identity and the case could be settled through talks.
