In a surprise gesture, City Police Commissioner AK Viswanathan on Friday visited those injured in violence, including film director Kalanjiyam, during the protests over delay in constitution of Cauvery Management Board (CMB).

The protests against holding IPL matches when the entire state was boiling over CMB issue turned violent when agitators tried to breach the police cordon to enter the Wallajah Road that leads to Chepauk Stadium.

While directors Kalanjiyam, Vetrimaran among others suffered injuries in the violence, a few policemen, too, bore the brunt of violence and were admitted at the hospital.

Meanwhile, Commissioner A K Viswanathan visited those injured in the clash and were undergoing treatment at Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital and reportedly wished them speedy recovery. When contacted, police sources said the officer visited the hospital personally, and there was no official communication about it.
