City may get showers for a day more

After thunderstorms and showers on Friday night and early Saturday morning, Chennai is likely to receive more showers over the next 24 hours, while thunderstorms are likely at isolated parts of the State.

On Saturday, Nungambakkam and Meenambakkam recorded 1.2 mm and 0.4 mm of rainfall respectively. Chengalpattu, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Vellore, Salem, Dharmapuri and Krishnagiri also received light to moderate rains. Heavy rain is likely in isolated parts on September 29, said an official from Regional Meteorological Centre, Chennai. Massive thunderstorms from Visakhapatnam have reached Kavali, said weather blogger Pradeep John.
