Chennai airport to shift IndiGo ATR aircraft departures to Terminal 4 from June 1

Airport sources said that the first terminal becomes congested during peak hours and passengers have a hard time, as the waiting period increases

DTNEXT Bureau

CHENNAI: All the Indigo ATR flights, which were earlier operated on Terminal One, will depart from Terminal Four from June 1st onwards, airport sources said.

The Indigo ATR flights to Tiruchy, Tuticorin, Madurai, Selam, Vijayawada, Kozhikode, Mangalore, Mysore, and Rajahmundry would depart from the 4th terminal of the Chennai airport from June 1st. However, there are no changes in the arrival, and all the ATR flights will arrive in Terminal One as usual.

Airport sources said that the first terminal becomes congested during peak hours and passengers have a hard time, as the waiting period increases. As there are two domestic terminals, T1 and T4, the airport officials decided to split the crowd to ensure a smooth travel experience for the passengers.

However, passengers requested the airline to confirm the terminal well ahead of scheduled travel, as they would face difficulties in identifying the ATR and the non-ATR aircraft.
