Charges of code violation as PMK’s Sam Paul comes with a crowd to file nomination

PMK candidate for central Chennai LS constituency Sam Paul filed his nomination at Shenoy Nagar on Friday.

However, there were allegations that the model code of conduct was violated when he did so. According to sources, around 10 people were present inside the Election Officer’s room when as per rules a maximum of five persons are allowed.

Sam Paul was accompanied by former AIADMK Minister Gokula Indira, AIADMK district secretaries Balaganga, Venkatesh, T Nagar MLA Sathya and BJP functionary Dhananjeyan. 

According to the affidavit filed by Sam Paul, he does not have a criminal background. The total value of his movable assets was worth Rs 1.01 crore, while that of his spouse was Rs 35.06 lakh. The total value of his immovable properties stood at Rs 28.53 crore. His liabilities are worth Rs 25.5 crore.
