CCTV helps nab bike thieves in Taramani

A CCTV footage of a duo stealing a two-wheeler in Taramani was released by Taramani police who secured all the accused within a day since the theft was reported.

Among the four arrested, A Jeevarathinam (21) of Bhavani Nagar, and M Vimalraj (20) of Taramani broke the sidelock of the two-wheeler and toed it away using another vehicle. The other two, M Surya (20) of Velachery, S Paulraj (19) of Velachery, were also part of the offence and gave the idea to the main accused, said police.

In the footage, two youngsters covering their faces with pieces of cloth are seen toeing away the two-wheeler of Tamilarasan, a techie and resident of Thanthai Periyar Nagar.

Based on his complaint on Friday, police launched a hunt for the suspects and secured them. They were remanded in judicial custody on Saturday.

Taramani police also arrested 22-year-old K Srinivasan for stealing a mobile phone in their jurisdiction.
