Burglars torch ‘empty' house at Kovilpatti

Frustrated burglars who did not find valuables in the premises torched a house at Kovilpatti. Properties worth several lakhs were destroyed in the fire.

The incidents of burglars torching ‘empty’ houses in and around Kovilpatti have increased in the recent past and the latest happened on Saturday. The house at Veeravanjinagar in Kovilpatti belonged to Sakthivel. He had gone to his son’s house at Tirupur recently and on Saturday morning neighbours noticed smoke coming from the house. They informed the police and the fire services department. They rushed to the spot and found all the properties destroyed. Police found out that the front door of the house was broken. Kovilpatti West Police have booked a case and are looking for the burglars. Kovilpatti burglars have set a pattern in which they torch houses if no valuables are found.
