Boy drowns in stone quarry in Tambaram

A 13-year-old boy drowned at a stone quarry near Tambaram on Saturday.

The deceased, identified as Ajmeer Khan from Samiyar Garden in West Tambaram, was a Class 7 student at a private school in the locality. On Saturday afternoon, Ajmeer and friends went swimming at the stone quarry in the locality. The police said that while they were fishing, Ajmeer slipped and fell into the water.


Soon his friends informed the locals. But they could not save him as the pit was about a hundred feet deep. On information, the Tambaram police and Tambaram fire and rescue team arrived at the spot and retrieved the body after searching for an hour. The body was sent for post-mortem examination at Chromepet government hospital.
