Auto-rickshaw driver held for beating doctor after row over bike parking

The Thousand Lights police have detained a 30-year-old auto rickshaw driver on the charges of beating up a doctor.

They said that the incident happened on Monday night when Dr V Ashwin (27) of Kanniyakumari, parked his two-wheeler near the auto stand at Wallace Garden. Since the auto drivers did not want him to park the vehicle, a quarrel erupted between them. Police said that R Vignesh Kumar (30), the auto driver, allegedly hit the doctor and the latter was treated as his outpatient. Based on the victim’s complaint, Thousand Lights police have detained the auto driver for inquiry.
